Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Prioritizes Healthcare in Border and Deprived Regions

In a significant address, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Friday that the state government has placed healthcare delivery in border and deprived areas at the forefront of its agenda. This underscores Uttar Pradesh's dedicated focus on enhancing medical outreach and services in remote and underserved regions.

Address at the Shri Guru Gorakhnath Health Seva Yatra

The Chief Minister delivered his remarks during the 6th edition of the Shri Guru Gorakhnath Health Seva Yatra, a comprehensive healthcare initiative being conducted across districts along the India-Nepal border. Through a video message shared on social media platforms, Yogi Adityanath articulated that the health service yatra is fundamentally dedicated to public welfare and serving the people. He emphasized that the campaign is actively spreading awareness, providing healthcare, and fostering social consciousness in these border areas.

Drawing profound inspiration from Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, the Chief Minister highlighted that the yatra is advancing the powerful message of "sab ka kalyan, sab ka utthan" (welfare and upliftment of all). This philosophy guides the initiative's mission to ensure inclusive development and health equity.

Scope and Impact of the Health Seva Yatra

The 3-day campaign, organized by the National Medicos Organisation (NMO) in collaboration with Shri Guru Gorakhnath Seva Nyas and other social organizations, is being held in seven key India-Nepal border districts:

  • Siddharthnagar
  • Maharajganj
  • Balrampur
  • Shravasti
  • Bahraich
  • Lakhimpur Kheri
  • Pilibhit

This initiative is specifically designed to provide free medical consultations, essential medicines, diagnostic services, and health awareness programs in remote, tribal-dominated villages. It particularly targets communities such as the Tharu and Vanvasi populations, who often face barriers in accessing healthcare.

Officials reported that over 1,000 doctors are actively participating in this extensive drive, with the ambitious goal of reaching more than 3 lakh people. On the very first day alone, healthcare services were delivered to over 70,000 residents, demonstrating the campaign's immediate and substantial impact.

Comprehensive Healthcare Approach and Government Efforts

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath elaborated that the state government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is implementing a holistic healthcare strategy. This approach extends beyond mere treatment to encompass prevention, awareness, and robust infrastructure development. He specifically highlighted the government's concerted efforts in controlling diseases like encephalitis through targeted vaccination drives, time-bound strategies, and active public participation.

Furthermore, emphasizing the commitment to inclusive development, Yogi Adityanath noted that after 2017, the government granted revenue village status to Vanvasi settlements. This crucial step ensures these communities have access to basic facilities and are integrated into the mainstream development process, thereby improving their overall quality of life.

Organizational Details and Future Plans

Dr. Shivam Mishra, the General Secretary of NMO Awadh province, provided additional insights into the campaign's execution. He stated that health camps have been organized in large numbers across the districts, with doctors offering free check-ups, distributing medicines, and providing counselling on vital topics such as nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and preventive healthcare measures.

The Shri Guru Gorakhnath Health Seva Yatra is set to culminate with mega health fairs scheduled to be held in each of the seven participating districts on February 8. These events are expected to further amplify the reach and benefits of this vital healthcare initiative, reinforcing the state's dedication to health equity and service in border regions.
