According to sources familiar with the developments, the Punjab government applied for political clearance approximately ten days ago. While the Centre initially provided oral assurances to proceed with preparations, formal approval from the MEA is still pending. An official involved in the planning stated, "We secured Schengen visas for the delegation, but the Chief Minister cannot depart without MEA clearance. The file is routed through the Prime Minister's Office, and tickets are on hold. If clearance arrives late on Saturday, travel may become unfeasible."
The delegation, comprising 25 members including Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, and Principal Secretary to CM Ravi Bhagat, aims to engage with industry leaders in Europe. The Indian Embassy in the Netherlands has already arranged meetings to promote investment opportunities in Punjab, highlighting the state's upcoming investor summit in March 2026.
