Amit Shah Declares Historic Push to End Naxalism by March Deadline
Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a powerful address on Friday, hailing India's security forces for their decisive actions in curbing Naxal activities. Speaking at the 57th raising day celebrations of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in Mundali, Cuttack district, Odisha, Shah made a bold declaration: the long-held ambition of extremists to establish a "red corridor" stretching from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Pashupati in Nepal will be permanently crushed by March 31.
Government's Unwavering Resolve Against Left-Wing Extremism
Shah reaffirmed the Narendra Modi government's steadfast commitment to eliminating left-wing extremism (LWE) and strengthening India's internal security framework. "Naxal-free India is the resolve of Narendra Modi govt. I want to reassure the citizens of this country that by March 31, the LWE will be completely wiped out," Shah stated emphatically. He emphasized that by decisively defeating those who dream of this red corridor, security forces will establish their dominance across affected regions.
Praise for Security Forces' Dedication and Morale
The home minister described the current phase as a historic turning point in India's fight against Naxalism. He credited security forces for their unwavering dedication, noting that despite facing multiple challenges, they have carried out difficult operations with determination and discipline. Shah particularly praised their ability to execute tough orders "with a smiling face," highlighting their high morale and resilience in the face of adversity.
CISF's Key Role in Anti-Maoist Operations
Shah also lauded the CISF's significant contributions to anti-Maoist operations. "Be it Odisha, Chhattisgarh or Telangana, CISF played a key role in our fight against LWE," he remarked. The CISF raising day event underscored the Central armed police force's broader responsibilities in safeguarding critical infrastructure and maintaining national security, beyond its industrial protection duties.
Intensified Campaign and Recent Gains
Shah's remarks come amid a government-intensified campaign against Naxal groups, with security forces reporting substantial gains in recent months. This strategic push aligns with the March 31 deadline, signaling a concerted effort to address internal security threats comprehensively. The home minister's strong and declarative statement reflects confidence in the ongoing operations and the capabilities of India's security apparatus.
