Youth Brutally Attacked with Axe by Girl's Family in Barmer District
In a shocking incident of retaliatory violence, a 26-year-old man was brutally assaulted with an axe by the family members of a girl he had previously eloped with in Vishala village of Barmer district, Rajasthan. The attack occurred on Saturday when the victim, identified as Mahesh, was traveling to the market with his brother on a motorcycle to purchase vegetables.
Violent Confrontation on Village Road
According to police reports, Mahesh was intercepted on the road by three brothers and their mother from the girl's family. The confrontation turned violent when the accused allegedly stopped Mahesh, forcibly took him to their home, and struck him with lethal blows from an axe. The attackers then fled the scene after the assault.
Senior police officer SP Narendra Meena provided crucial context to the incident, revealing that approximately four months prior, Mahesh and a girl from the same community had eloped together of their own volition. Both individuals subsequently returned to their respective families and had been living separately in their homes since that time.
Critical Medical Condition and Police Response
Following the brutal attack, some villagers transported the severely injured Mahesh to the district hospital. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was immediately referred to MDM Hospital in Jodhpur for advanced medical treatment. ASP Nitesh Arya confirmed that Mahesh remains in critical condition as he undergoes treatment at the Jodhpur facility.
Upon receiving information about the assault, Gramin Thana police, along with DSP Ramesh Kumar Sharma and ASP Nitesh Arya, swiftly mobilized police teams to the incident location. After gathering comprehensive information about the violent episode, police authorities detained all four accused individuals connected to the attack.
Encroachment Demolition and Security Measures
In a significant follow-up action, police officials utilized a bulldozer to remove illegal construction and property linked to the accused in Vishala village. During this demolition operation, a crowd gathered at the site and raised slogans, prompting authorities to deploy additional police forces to maintain order in the town.
Officials confirmed that the encroachment demolition was directly connected to the accused individuals involved in the violent assault. This police action underscores the administration's commitment to addressing both the immediate violence and associated illegal activities in the community.
