Woman Vanishes After Single-Day Marriage in Bengaluru, Police Investigate
In a bizarre and unsettling incident near Bengaluru, a 24-year-old woman who was married in a hastily arranged single-day ceremony has allegedly gone missing from her husband's residence. The case has triggered widespread suspicion, confusion, and allegations of deception, with police now actively investigating the circumstances.
Location and Complaint Details
The incident occurred at Gownicheruvupalli village, which falls under the Batlahalli police limits in Chintamani taluk. This area is located approximately 100 kilometers from Bengaluru. A formal complaint regarding his missing wife and some gold ornaments has been lodged by Bhaskar, a native of Madanapalli in Andhra Pradesh who works for a private firm in Bengaluru.
Unusual Marriage Arrangement
The drama began when Bhaskar, who had been searching for a bride, was approached by three marriage brokers. One of these brokers was reportedly a relative of his. They presented a proposal for a woman named Nethra from Kotlapalli near Marganapalli.
Events moved at an unusually rapid pace. On February 27, Bhaskar and Nethra met for the very first time at the home of one of the brokers in Marganapalli village. Within just a few hours, the pair agreed to marry, and the wedding ceremony was solemnized on that same day. Bhaskar allegedly paid Rs 75,000 to one of the brokers, purportedly as a payment for the bride.
Disappearance and Police Involvement
Following the wedding, the newlywed couple stayed at Bhaskar's uncle's house in Gownicheruvupalli for about 15 days. On March 15, Bhaskar left for his hometown, leaving Nethra behind at the residence. By evening, the situation took a dramatic and unexpected turn.
Bhaskar received a call from his uncle informing him that Nethra had vanished without leaving any trace. Despite immediate efforts by the family, they were unable to locate her. Bhaskar rushed back to the village and promptly filed a formal complaint with the Batlahalli police station.
Allegations and Mysterious Claims
In his official statement to the authorities, Bhaskar claimed that he had been pressured into a quick marriage by the brokers. They allegedly warned him that if he did not proceed immediately, the bride would be married off to someone else.
What surfaced later, however, has deepened the mystery surrounding this case. Bhaskar has alleged that Nethra was already married prior to their union, that she has two children, and that she had even undergone a tubectomy procedure. These claims are currently under investigation by the police to verify their accuracy.
Police Investigation and Missing Jewellery
Sub-inspector Shivakumar, who is handling the case, has provided some clarification regarding the complaint. He stated that while Bhaskar has verbally claimed that Nethra took some gold ornaments with her when she disappeared, there is no specific mention of missing jewellery in the written complaint that was filed.
Investigations are actively ongoing to trace the whereabouts of the missing woman and to verify the various claims about her identity, marital status, and past. The police are examining all aspects of this unusual case to determine what exactly transpired and whether any fraudulent activities were involved in the marriage arrangement.
