Udupi Court Gets Fourth Hoax Bomb Threat This Week; Police Step Up Checks

The Udupi district court received another hoax bomb threat on Tuesday, marking the fourth such incident this week. The threat, sent via email, prompted immediate security protocols, though no explosive device was found after a thorough search.

Police Response and Enhanced Security Measures

Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar confirmed that the police have intensified security measures in response to the repeated threats. "The security checks will ensure that even if such threat emails are received, there will be no disruption to court functioning or judicial proceedings," he said. Starting immediately, police will conduct thorough checks of the court premises daily, including the use of sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads.

Pattern of Threats Causes Concern

The latest threat follows three similar hoax emails received earlier in the week. All threats have been traced to anonymous senders, and investigations are ongoing to identify the culprits. Despite the disruptions, court operations have continued without major delays, thanks to the swift response from authorities. The repeated threats have raised concerns about security vulnerabilities and the potential for copycat incidents.

Impact on Court Operations

Judicial officers and staff have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The district court has also coordinated with local cybercrime units to track the origin of the emails. While no arrests have been made yet, police are analyzing digital footprints and have sought technical assistance from higher authorities. The Udupi district administration has assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain safety and normalcy.
