A shocking incident of domestic violence culminated in murder in Udaipur district on Thursday evening, leaving a community in trauma and nine children without their mother.
Gruesome Murder After Argument
In a tragic event at Undithal village under the Gogunda police station area, a man allegedly beat his wife to death following a dispute. The accused, identified as Shaitan Nath Kalbelia, is reported to have murdered his 31-year-old wife, Seeta Kalbelia, by repeatedly kicking and punching her.
According to Gogunda Station House Officer (SHO) Shyam Singh Charan, the assault was so brutal that Seeta died on the spot. The couple, who were living in a temporary settlement in the village, had nine children together.
Children's Helpless Intervention
In a heart-wrenching detail of the case, police revealed that the couple's nine children attempted to intervene during the violent attack to save their mother. Despite their desperate efforts, the accused did not stop his assault.
After committing the crime, Shaitan Nath Kalbelia fled from the scene, abandoning his children at the location with their mother's lifeless body.
Police Action and Family's Anguish
On receiving information about the murder, personnel from the Gogunda police station swiftly reached the spot. The officials took possession of the body and placed it in the mortuary at Gogunda hospital for post-mortem examination.
The deceased woman's maternal family members from Dholi Ghati village arrived at the scene after learning about the horrific incident. They subsequently filed a formal murder case against the husband.
SHO Charan stated that the police have formed different teams to apprehend the accused. A search operation is currently underway to locate and arrest Shaitan Nath Kalbelia, who remains at large.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and highlights the severe and often fatal consequences of domestic violence. The case underscores the urgent need for stronger intervention mechanisms to protect vulnerable individuals within households.
