Two Teenage Bikers Killed in Airoli JCB Accident; Driver Detained
In a tragic road mishap in Navi Mumbai, two teenage boys riding a motorcycle lost their lives after being struck by a JCB machine on an internal road in Airoli. The incident occurred around 10 am on Friday, leading to immediate police action and legal proceedings.
The police swiftly detained the JCB machine driver following the collision. An FIR has been registered at the Rabale police station against the accused driver, identified as Hanumant Shinde, aged 29. He has been booked under charges of rash and negligent driving resulting in death.
Details of the Airoli Accident
Balkrushna Sawant, the senior inspector of Rabale police station, provided details of the heartbreaking event. "The accident took place when the JCB machine driver, while crossing the road near New Horizon Public School in Sector 19, collided with the bike, causing grievous injuries to the two teenagers," he stated.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared brought dead upon arrival. Legal course of action is being pursued against Hanumant Shinde, with authorities emphasizing the severity of the charges due to the fatal outcome.
Separate Fatal Bike Accident in Nerul
In another devastating road incident, a 21-year-old youth riding a motorcycle was killed after a speeding pickup cargo truck rammed into the rear of his bike. This accident occurred near the Juinagar skywalk on the Sion-Panvel highway around 6 am on Thursday.
The deceased biker has been identified as Vayun Falsankar, a resident of Mulund. Following the collision, the accused truck driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled. The Nerul police have registered an FIR against the unidentified truck driver for rash and negligent driving causing death.
Investigation and Family Impact
PSI Mayur Pawar of Nerul police shared poignant details about the victim and the ongoing investigation. "Falsankar was a hotel management student and was riding his bike to reach his college in Kharghar at the time of the accident," he explained.
Tragically, Falsankar was the only son of his widowed mother, amplifying the loss for the family. He was declared brought dead at the hospital. Authorities are actively tracing the accused truck driver, who escaped leaving his vehicle behind.
Investigators obtained the driver's contact number from the cargo company, whose mobile number was painted on the truck. However, the number was found to be switched off, complicating the search efforts.
These back-to-back accidents highlight critical road safety concerns in the Navi Mumbai region, with both cases involving young victims and allegations of negligent driving. The police are urging stricter adherence to traffic rules and heightened vigilance among all road users to prevent such tragedies in the future.
