Violent Altercation in Urapakkam Leaves Two Injured

A late-night confrontation over public drinking escalated into violence in the Urapakkam area near Chennai, resulting in injuries to two individuals and leading to a complex police case with two separate complaints filed against each other. The incident has prompted an investigation by the Tiruvallur district police.

Details of the Incident and Conflicting Accounts

According to the first complaint, Dakshnamoorthy, aged 45, a resident of Periyakuppam, stated that he was assaulted when he confronted a group of men consuming alcohol in public. He alleged that he was struck on the head with a beer bottle and sticks. His friend, 25-year-old Ajith, also from Periyakuppam, was reportedly present during the altercation.

However, a counter-complaint presented a截然不同的 narrative. Giridharan, 59, alleged that it was Dakshnamoorthy and Ajith who initiated the violence. He claimed the duo attacked his 22-year-old son, Yuvanshankar, and his son's friend, 22-year-old Mervin Anto, by smashing beer bottles into their faces.

Aftermath and Police Action

The injured youths, Yuvanshankar and Mervin Anto, received treatment at a government hospital and were later discharged. Following the registration of the cross-complaints, Tiruvallur police took Dakshnamoorthy into custody. He has been arrested in connection with the case.

Authorities are currently investigating the sequence of events to determine the precise cause of the clash and identify all parties responsible for the violence. The police are piecing together evidence from both complaints to establish a clear picture of the incident that disturbed the peace in the locality.
