Thane Crime Branch Cracks Down on Interstate Burglary Ring

In a significant breakthrough, the Thane Crime Branch Unit 2 has successfully dismantled an interstate burglary gang with the arrest of two habitual offenders hailing from Gujarat. The operation led to the recovery of stolen gold and silver jewellery valued at an impressive Rs 7.4 lakh, marking a substantial victory for law enforcement in the region.

Arrests and Interrogation Details

The arrested individuals have been identified as Azad Singh alias Dhanari Madhusingh Tak (33) and Ajay Singh alias Mamu Bhurasingh Dudhani (28). According to police reports, during intensive interrogation, the accused confessed to their active involvement in a series of house-breaking and theft cases specifically targeting the Thane district and its adjoining areas. Their confessions provided crucial insights into the gang's modus operandi and criminal activities.

Recovery and Case Resolution

The recovery of the stolen ornaments proved instrumental in cracking a total of six First Information Reports (FIRs) that were previously registered across various police stations. This development has brought closure to multiple ongoing investigations, highlighting the effectiveness of the Crime Branch's efforts. The distribution of these cases is as follows:

  • Four cases were registered at the Narpoli Police Station, with three occurring in 2026 and one in 2025.
  • One case was registered at the Kongaon Police Station in 2025.
  • One case was registered at the Virar Police Station in 2023.

All these cases have been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically pertaining to house-breaking and theft offenses, underscoring the legal framework applied in these investigations.

Impact on Crime Detection

Police officials emphasized that this operation has significantly enhanced crime detection capabilities in the area. By busting this interstate gang, authorities have not only recovered valuable stolen property but also disrupted a network responsible for multiple burglaries. The successful resolution of these six FIRs demonstrates a proactive approach to tackling organized crime and ensuring public safety in Thane and surrounding regions.
