Six Individuals Arrested in Dahod District for Alleged Assault on Police Officer
In a significant development in Gujarat's Dahod district, local authorities have taken six persons into custody following an alleged assault on a police officer. The incident unfolded during a routine police operation in Chharchhoda village, located within the Garbada taluka region.
Police Operation Leads to Liquor Seizure and Confrontation
According to official police reports, a team from Jesawada police station, under the leadership of Assistant Sub-Inspector Siraj Sheikh, conducted a raid in Chharchhoda village on Monday. The operation was initiated based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of absconding accused individuals in the area.
Although the primary targets of the raid were not located, the police team discovered a bag containing multiple beer cans and whisky bottles at the scene. One individual present at the location, identified as Naval Bhabhor, immediately claimed ownership of the seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
Escalation of Events and Alleged Assault
The situation quickly escalated when another individual, Kanti Bhabhor, arrived at the scene and allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with ASI Siraj Sheikh. As the police team prepared to transport the seized liquor back to Jesawada police station, they faced further obstruction.
Kanti Bhabhor's son, Sarul, reportedly intercepted the police patrol vehicle as it departed from the village. This action prompted a gathering of local residents, who then allegedly manhandled ASI Sheikh. During the confrontation, the police officer's shirt was torn, and he required intervention from his colleagues to be safely extracted from the volatile situation.
Arrests Made and Ongoing Investigation
In response to the incident, Dahod police have arrested six individuals connected to the alleged assault:
- Kanti Bhabhor
- Sarul Bhabhor
- Naval Bhabhor
- Satish Bhabhor
- Manjula Bhabhor
- Shanta Bhabhor
All six have been taken into custody and face charges related to the assault on a police officer during official duty. The Dahod police have confirmed that a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway. Authorities are examining all aspects of the case, including the circumstances surrounding the liquor seizure and the subsequent altercation.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement personnel during routine operations in rural areas and underscores the importance of maintaining public order and respect for police authority during official proceedings.
