A 65-year-old woman lost her life after being run over by an autorickshaw during her regular morning walk in Mumbai's Khar area. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 7, 2025, around 4:30 AM.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The victim has been identified as Kubrabano Mansoori (65). According to police officers, Mansoori was a diabetes patient and maintained a strict routine of going for a walk at dawn every single day. Her husband, Shabbir Mansoori, informed authorities that she would typically leave their home around 4:30 AM and return by 8:30 AM.
On the fateful Saturday morning, her family had plans to take her to a doctor for a diabetes-related consultation after her walk. When she did not return home at her usual time, her husband and son ventured out to search for her but were unsuccessful in locating her.
Family's Harrowing Discovery
The family's ordeal took a tragic turn when a relative received a phone call from a neighbour who worked at Bhabha Hospital in Bandra. The neighbour informed them that Mansoori had been brought to the hospital following an accident and had been declared dead. The family rushed to the hospital and identified the deceased.
They subsequently contacted the Khar police, who provided them with the grim details. The police confirmed that Mansoori had been run over by an autorickshaw driver identified as Kailash Singh. It was Singh himself who had taken the injured woman to Bhabha Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Legal Action and Police Proceedings
The Khar police were officially alerted about the incident by Bhabha Hospital. Following this, they registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the autorickshaw driver, Kailash Singh.
A police officer stated that a notice has been issued to Singh in connection with the case. He was allowed to go after due process as the offence in question carries a maximum punishment of less than seven years. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
This incident has cast a pall over the Khar neighbourhood, highlighting the dangers faced by pedestrians, especially senior citizens, during early morning hours. It serves as a grim reminder for increased road safety vigilance from all commuters.
