Ranchi Ram Navami: 3,000 Police Personnel Deployed, Drones Used for Security
The district administration in Ranchi has unveiled a comprehensive and multi-layered security strategy to maintain law and order during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations. This extensive plan involves the deployment of approximately 3,000 police personnel, including specialized units, across the district from Thursday until the conclusion of the religious processions.
Massive Police Deployment and Surveillance Measures
Police forces will be stationed at around 300 key locations throughout Ranchi district to monitor and manage the festival activities. In addition to uniformed officers, the security apparatus will leverage advanced technology and covert operations. Drones, videographers, plain-clothed police officers, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be extensively utilized for real-time surveillance and intelligence gathering. This integrated approach aims to preempt any potential disturbances and ensure a peaceful environment.
Ranchi City Superintendent of Police Paras Rana emphasized the focus on crowd management and procession safety. "Around 2,200 police personnel along with Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) will be deployed at sensitive places in the city area," he stated. "Our primary objectives are the effective management of the massive crowds that gather during the festival and ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted movement of the religious processions."
Control Rooms and Traffic Management
To coordinate security operations, a district control room became operational from Wednesday. Furthermore, sub-control rooms will be established at strategic points including Albert Ekka Chowk, Doranda, Bariatu, and Ekra Masjid. These centers will facilitate seamless communication and rapid response throughout the festival period.
Traffic management forms a critical component of the security plan. All approach roads along the procession routes, particularly the main road and the path from Jhanda Chowk to Yunus Chowk, will be barricaded to prevent vehicle entry. Police personnel will be positioned along these routes and on house tops to continuously monitor crowd movements and ensure safety.
Rural Areas and Social Media Monitoring
Security measures extend beyond the urban core, with around 800 police personnel assigned to rural areas of Ranchi district. A dedicated control room will be set up at Bundu to oversee processions and maintain vigilance in these regions.
The district administration has issued strict directives to police and magistrates to promptly address and counteract fake information or rumors circulating on various social media platforms. Officials are mandated to take immediate and stringent action against individuals spreading misinformation to preserve communal harmony and prevent unrest.
Medical Preparedness and Emergency Response
In anticipation of emergencies, medical teams will be stationed at multiple locations across the city. These teams are equipped to handle injuries and other medical situations, particularly those that may arise from traditional weapon displays or crowd-related incidents during the festivities.
This holistic security framework underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly Ram Navami celebration for all residents and participants in Ranchi.
