East Champaran Police Crack Down on Hooch Tragedy Gang, Arrest Mastermind Supplier
In a significant breakthrough, the East Champaran police have successfully dismantled the criminal network responsible for a devastating hooch tragedy that resulted in the loss of 10 lives. The operation culminated in the arrest of the primary supplier of the poisonous spirit, marking a critical step in the investigation.
Mastermind Apprehended from Lucknow
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat announced on Sunday that a special investigation team (SIT) has taken into custody Satish Chandra Chaudhary from Lucknow. Described as the mastermind behind the illicit operation, Chaudhary is accused of supplying the toxic consignment from Ghaziabad to Motihari. This supply chain severely impacted numerous families in the Turkauliya and Raghunathpur areas, leading to widespread suffering.
Chaudhary is currently undergoing intensive interrogation as authorities delve deeper into the case. According to police reports, he owns SS Chemicals and originates from a village under the Lalganj police station in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh, while conducting his operations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad.
Network Unraveled Following Initial Arrest
The criminal network came to light after the arrest of Lawkush Yadav near Piprakothi on Friday. Yadav allegedly procured the poisonous spirit through Chaudhary and distributed it locally, setting off a chain of tragic events. The hooch tragedy not only claimed 10 lives but also caused several individuals to lose their eyesight, with over 18 people hospitalized before being discharged.
"Chaudhary has admitted his involvement in the case," stated SP Swarn Prabhat, emphasizing that key financial evidence has been uncovered. Police have officially registered a case and are actively probing the financial transactions and connections between the accused individuals.
Ongoing Investigations and Arrests
To date, approximately 18 racketeers have been arrested in connection with this case, as law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice. The investigation remains focused on dismantling every aspect of the network to prevent future incidents.
The East Champaran police are committed to ensuring that such tragedies do not recur, with heightened vigilance and stricter enforcement measures in place. The community has expressed relief at the arrests, hoping for swift legal action against those responsible.
