Patna Woman Allegedly Poisoned to Death in Family Land Dispute
In a shocking incident from Bihar's Nalanda district, a 22-year-old married woman has allegedly died after being forced to consume poison during a violent dispute over agricultural land. The tragic event occurred on Thursday at Bahera village under the jurisdiction of the Silao police station.
Victim Identified as Neha Kumari
The deceased has been identified as Neha Kumari, wife of Tuntun Yadav. Following the incident, all members of her in-laws' family have reportedly fled the area and are currently absconding from authorities.
According to statements from Neha's own family members, she had been residing at her in-laws' house while her husband, who works as a daily wage laborer, was employed in Chennai. The couple had married in 2022 and are parents to a young son.
Long-Standing Land Dispute at the Heart of the Tragedy
The family has claimed that a persistent and bitter dispute over approximately 4 to 5 bighas of farmland was the primary cause of escalating tensions within the household. The agricultural land in question was reportedly being contested among four brothers, creating a hostile environment.
Neha's relatives have directly alleged that she was killed by her in-laws, pointing to the land conflict as the motive behind this extreme act of violence.
Police Investigation Underway
Silao Station House Officer Murli Manohar Azad provided initial details about the case, stating, "Preliminary investigation suggests the death may have occurred after consuming pesticide during a domestic dispute."
The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Neha Kumari's death and are searching for the absconding family members to gather further evidence and statements.
This tragic incident highlights the severe consequences that can arise from unresolved family disputes over property and land, particularly in rural areas where such conflicts sometimes turn violent.
