Patna Traffic Police Unveils Comprehensive Plan for Chhath Morning Arghya
In preparation for the sacred Chhath festival, the Patna traffic police have announced a detailed and extensive traffic management plan specifically designed for devotees offering the morning arghya on Wednesday. This special arrangement is set to be implemented from the early hours of 2 AM until 8 AM, or until normal traffic flow is fully restored, whichever occurs later.
Key Road Closures and Traffic Diversions
Traffic Superintendent of Police Sagar Kumar Jha has confirmed several critical road closures to ensure the safety and convenience of the Chhath-vratis. No vehicles will be permitted on Ashok Rajpath between Kargil Chowk and Didarganj, with all entry points to this road remaining completely sealed during the specified hours.
To facilitate the devotees, vehicles carrying them will be allowed to proceed up to West Shahpur. Ample parking arrangements have been organized on Khazanchi Road, as well as within the campuses of Patna College and Science College, to accommodate the influx of vehicles.
Additional Traffic Restrictions and Alternative Routes
The traffic plan includes further closures on other major routes. The stretch from Digha Mor to Ashiana Mor will be entirely closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Ramjichak More and Canal Road, also known as Bailey Road, to navigate around this area.
Moreover, there will be a complete ban on all vehicle movement on JP Ganga Path, specifically from Digha Golambar to Gaighat. This measure is intended to prevent congestion and ensure a smooth passage for the religious procession.
Exemptions and Special Provisions
Certain categories of vehicles have been granted exemptions under this traffic plan to maintain essential services. These include:
- Emergency response vehicles such as fire brigade and ambulance units
- Patient-carrying vehicles and hearse vans
- Vehicles transporting Chhath devotees
For heavy vehicles, a diversion has been established via the Bihta-Sarmera Road. Additionally, travelers heading to destinations like Sonpur, Chhapra, and Hajipur are strongly recommended to use the Mahatma Gandhi Setu to avoid delays and ensure timely arrival.
