A shocking incident of violence unfolded inside a prominent fitness centre in Noida on Sunday morning, leaving a gym trainer injured and traumatised. The assault, which resulted in the victim requiring multiple stitches, has prompted a police investigation.
Unprovoked Attack at Gold's Gym
The victim has been identified as Harsh Sharma, a resident of Crossings Republik and a trainer at Gold's Gym in Sector 131. According to his police complaint, the altercation began around 10:30 am when a man named Sumit Tyagi, a resident of Dundahera in Ghaziabad, approached him.
Sharma stated that Tyagi suddenly started shouting at him and hurling abuses without any apparent provocation. When Sharma objected to this abusive behaviour, the situation quickly escalated from verbal aggression to physical violence.
Violent Assault and Criminal Intimidation
Tyagi allegedly grew violent and threatened to kill the trainer. In a brutal move, he is accused of hitting Sharma on the head with his mobile phone. The impact was severe, causing a deep cut on Sharma's head.
The First Information Report (FIR) details that the injury required 8 to 9 stitches to close. Furthermore, Sharma alleged that the accused tried to intimidate him by flaunting his "local influence" during the confrontation. The precise motive behind the sudden attack remains unclear at this stage.
Police Action and Investigation Underway
Following the complaint, the Sector 126 police station registered a formal case against Sumit Tyagi. The charges have been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt.
- Section 352 for intentional insult.
- Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that they are actively scanning the CCTV footage from the gym premises to piece together the exact sequence of events. A police spokesperson stated that further legal action will be determined based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
This incident has raised concerns about safety in public spaces like gyms and highlights the serious consequences of sudden, unprovoked violence.
