NCB's 41st Raising Day: Nationwide Youth Anti-Drug Events

Narcotics Control Bureau Celebrates 41 Years of Service with Nationwide Anti-Drug Initiatives

The Narcotics Control Bureau commemorated its 41st Raising Day on Tuesday, marking over four decades of unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse throughout India. This significant milestone highlights the agency's persistent efforts in safeguarding communities from the devastating impacts of narcotics.

Nationwide Youth Mobilization for a Drug-Free India

To honor this occasion, the NCB organized comprehensive youth mobilization programs across nearly 40 strategic locations nationwide. These initiatives, part of the broader Drug-Free India campaign, were conducted in major cities including Delhi, Lucknow, Jodhpur, Raipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Agartala.

The programs featured a diverse array of activities designed to engage young people directly. Participants took part in anti-drug pledges, attended detailed awareness sessions, joined energetic rallies, and participated in heritage walks. These events collectively emphasized preventing substance abuse, promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening institutional partnerships, and fostering direct youth engagement.

Comprehensive Awareness on Drug Abuse Consequences

Day-long activities thoroughly addressed the multifaceted consequences of drug abuse, covering health risks, psychological impacts, social implications, and legal ramifications. Educational sessions provided valuable information about preventive strategies, early warning signs of substance abuse, recovery pathways for those affected, and available support systems within communities.

Participants received detailed sensitization about the harmful effects of drug abuse, including its broader social and legal implications. The programs strongly emphasized the importance of making informed, healthy life choices and resisting peer pressure related to substance use.

Promoting the MANAS Helpline and Educational Engagement

Students and educators were actively encouraged to promote the NCB's MANAS Helpline (1933), a crucial resource for reporting information about drug trafficking and seeking assistance for substance abuse issues. This initiative aims to create a more responsive support network for individuals and families affected by drug-related problems.

Highlight Events Across Major Cities

At Sri Venkateswara College in Delhi, a substantial gathering of students participated in a solemn pledge against drug abuse. Fitness influencer Ankit Bayanpuriya addressed the assembly, emphasizing the vital connection between health, fitness, and drug-free living while motivating students to maintain healthy lifestyles.

In Jodhpur, approximately 400 participants joined a heritage walk at the iconic Ghanta Ghar as part of the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (Drug-Free India Campaign). This event creatively combined cultural appreciation with anti-drug awareness messaging.

Chandigarh's program at the Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management attracted around 250 students for focused awareness sessions. Meanwhile, a collaborative meditation session with Sri Ramchandra Mission was organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, highlighting holistic approaches to wellness.

Bengaluru witnessed one of the largest gatherings, with approximately 5,000 students participating in a walkathon and awareness program at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. This event included both physical activity and educational sessions detailing the ill effects of drug consumption.

These nationwide initiatives demonstrate the NCB's expanded approach to drug prevention, moving beyond enforcement to include substantial community engagement, youth empowerment, and public education components as the agency enters its fifth decade of service.
