A case has been registered against a man in Muzaffarnagar district for allegedly beating a street dog to death in a shocking incident that has ignited public fury. The event occurred in Charthawal town, with police confirming the details on Tuesday.

CCTV Footage Captures Disturbing Incident

The incident took place around 7:45 PM on Sunday and was recorded on CCTV. The footage purportedly shows Pankaj Pal, a resident in his late 20s from Mohalla Halwaiyan, grabbing the dog by its legs and repeatedly thrashing the animal against the road. This video has since gone viral on social media platforms, leading to widespread condemnation from netizens.

Police Response and Legal Charges

Local residents alerted the authorities after witnessing the act. Police responded promptly, taking the critically injured dog to a veterinarian, but the animal succumbed to its severe injuries. A formal complaint was filed on Monday by Shikha Arya, a local resident, who accused Pal of mercilessly beating the street dog to death without any provocation. Arya also alleged that Pal, who works as a driver, has a history of cruelty towards animals.

SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma stated, "Based on a complaint and CCTV evidence, a case has been registered against Pal under Section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animals) of the BNS and Section 11(1)(A) of the Animal Cruelty Act. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused."
