Tension Erupts in Napoklu Village Following Inter-Community Attack
Madikeri: Tension gripped Napoklu village on Friday evening as a man was brutally attacked by an individual from another community in front of a local supermarket. The incident occurred just ahead of a Hindu convention scheduled to take place on Saturday at Ballamavati near Napoklu, heightening concerns over communal harmony in the area.
Victim Hospitalized with Injuries
The victim, identified as Appachira Gautham from Doddapulicot, sustained significant injuries during the assault. He was promptly admitted to the district hospital for medical treatment, where he is currently under observation. Authorities have confirmed that his condition is stable, but the attack has left the local community in a state of shock and fear.
Right-Wing Groups Stage Road Blockade
In response to the attack, right-wing organizations staged a road blockade in Napoklu for over an hour, demanding swift action against the assailant. The protest disrupted traffic and drew attention to the escalating tensions in the village. Additional police personnel were quickly deployed to the scene to manage the situation and prevent any further unrest.
Police Intervention and Arrest
Virajpet sub-division DSP Mahesh Kumar met with the protesters to address their concerns and assure them of immediate action. The jurisdictional police later registered an FIR in connection with the attack. SP Bindu Mani confirmed that the accused has been arrested, and the situation has been brought under control through heightened security measures.
