Mumbai Traffic Police Impose Restrictions for Dr. Ambedkar's 135th Jayanti at Chaityabhoomi
The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced significant vehicular movement restrictions in central Mumbai to accommodate the large influx of followers expected to visit Chaityabhoomi for the 135th Jayanti of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The restrictions will be in effect from 11 am on Monday until midnight on Tuesday, ensuring smooth and safe passage for devotees during this important commemoration.
Road Closures and One-Way Traffic Arrangements
To manage the expected crowds, several key roads will be affected. SK Bole Road will operate as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Temple Junction up to Portuguese Church. Additionally, SVS Road from Siddhi Vinayak Temple Junction to Yes Bank junction will be completely closed to all traffic, with local residents permitted to use Road No. 5 as an alternative.
Other closures include Ranade Road and Dnyaneshwar Mandir Road from its junction at SVS Road up to Dadar Chowpatty, both of which will be inaccessible to all vehicles. Heavy vehicles and goods carriers, excluding BEST buses, will be diverted from Mahim Junction via LJ Road to minimize congestion in the area.
Designated No Parking and Parking Zones
The Traffic Police have also established specific no-parking zones to prevent obstructions. These include:
- Veer Savarkar Marg from Century Junction to Yes Bank Junction
- Ranade Road
- Keluskar Road (both South and North sections)
- Dnyaneshwar Mandir Road
For convenience, designated parking areas have been allocated at:
- Senapati Bapat Marg, accessible from Mahim and Dadar
- India Bulls Finance Center PPL in Elphinstone
- Kohinoor Square PPL at Kohinoor Mill Compound, Shivaji Park
- Kamagar Stadium on Senapati Bapat Marg
- India Bulls Center PPL in Jupiter Mill Compound, Elphinstone
- Five Gardens area
These measures are part of a comprehensive plan to ensure public safety and order during the Jayanti celebrations. Commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance and consider alternative transportation options to avoid delays.
The restrictions highlight the city's efforts to honor Dr. Ambedkar's legacy while maintaining urban mobility. Authorities urge cooperation from all residents and visitors to facilitate a peaceful and respectful observance of this significant occasion.
