Mumbai MCOCA Court Denies Bail to Trio in Brutal 2025 Drug Deal Abduction Case

A special MCOCA court in Mumbai has firmly rejected the bail applications of three men accused of a heinous abduction and torture case linked to a failed drug manufacturing deal in 2025. The court observed that the documented evidence unequivocally establishes the accused's involvement in kidnapping and unlawfully confining the victims with the intent to kill them.

Details of the Accused and the Case

The accused individuals, identified as Yunus Thayvallapil, Mohd Tausif Jendi, and Nirav Solanki, were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2025. They sought release following their detention in connection with the abduction of an estate agent and media channel owner, Sajjid Electricwala, and an informant.

The case originated when Electricwala, after being released on bail in an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case, introduced the informant to Sarvar Khan. On March 31, 2025, Khan allegedly paid Electricwala Rs 50 lakh to manufacture the contraband drug MD. However, when Electricwala failed to deliver the drugs within the agreed 10-day period, a severe dispute erupted, prompting the accused to target both men.

Abduction and Torture Incident

On June 12, 2025, the accused abducted Electricwala and the informant, transporting them to a secluded bungalow in Neral. There, the informant was tied up and subjected to brutal physical assault. In a further act of humiliation and extortion, the captors filmed him being forced to strip and dance. After enduring two days of relentless torture, the informant managed to escape through a window on June 14, 2025.

Initially, fear prevented the informant from reporting the incident, but he eventually lodged a formal complaint with the police on July 10, 2025. Meanwhile, while the informant was free, the criminal syndicate moved Electricwala across various locations in Maharashtra before transporting him to Uttar Pradesh.

Police Investigation and Rescue Operation

Following the complaint, a dedicated police task force launched an intensive investigation, tracking the group's movements to Uttar Pradesh. The operation culminated in the successful rescue of Electricwala and the arrest of several suspects, including Thayvallapil and Jendi. The court's decision to deny bail underscores the gravity of the charges and the strength of the evidence against the accused.

This case highlights the severe consequences of involvement in illegal drug activities and the rigorous enforcement of laws under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). The rejection of bail serves as a stern reminder of the judiciary's commitment to ensuring justice in such serious criminal matters.
