According to police reports, the accused, identified as Rajkumar, got into a heated argument with his 40-year-old wife, Sunita, on the evening of April 26. The confrontation began when Rajkumar demanded twenty rupees from his wife to purchase cigarettes.
Sunita reportedly refused to give him the money. This refusal escalated into a violent quarrel. In a fit of rage, Rajkumar allegedly grabbed his wife by the neck and strangled her. The altercation happened inside their residence while other family members were present in the house.

After the alleged murder, Rajkumar fled the scene. It was other family members who later discovered Sunita's body and immediately alerted the authorities. The police control room received information about the crime at approximately 11:15 PM on April 26.
