A shocking case of brutal revenge has emerged from Lucknow, where a 21-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by three of his friends. The incident, rooted in the victim's objection to the harassment of his cousin, culminated in a vicious attack involving over 100 blows with a wooden stick.
The Fatal Night and Police Investigation
The victim, identified as Almas, was lured out of his house on December 29 after receiving a phone call around 7:30 PM. His friends, Ramzan (18), Arman (19), and Suraj (22), all residents of Mau village, took him to a secluded spot near the Badi Nahar canal embankment. There, they launched a savage assault, striking Almas on the head repeatedly with a stick.
When Almas did not return home, his father filed a missing complaint. Tragically, his body was discovered near the canal the following day. The family has alleged that the accused tried to stage the murder to look like an accident.
Motive and Arrest of the Accused
According to villagers and family members, the motive for the murder was revenge. Ramzan had allegedly been harassing Almas's cousin for some time. Approximately 20 days before the murder, Almas confronted and allegedly assaulted Ramzan over this issue. This confrontation led Ramzan to plot a deadly retaliation.
The Mohanlalganj police, with assistance from the Southern Zone surveillance cell, arrested the trio on Wednesday. ADCP South Zone Vasanth Kumar stated that investigators left no stone unturned, scanning footage from nearly 100 CCTV cameras, analysing call records, and questioning locals to crack the case.
Evidence and Legal Action
The police have successfully recovered crucial evidence, including the murder weapon (the wooden stick), the victim's mobile phone, and a motorcycle used in the crime. The accused have been formally charged under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A further investigation into the case is currently underway.
This gruesome incident in Mohanlalganj has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the extreme and violent consequences of personal vendettas.
