Mentally Disturbed Man Hijacks RTC Bus in Visakhapatnam, Causes Panic
In a startling incident in Visakhapatnam, a mentally disturbed individual commandeered an RTC bus that was parked at the LIC building under the Two Town police station limits on Thursday. The event unfolded when the bus driver had stepped down from the driving seat to issue tickets to passengers, leaving the vehicle unattended.
Chaotic Drive Through City Streets
The person, identified as Duvvi Kiran, a native of Vizianagaram district, seized the opportunity to drive the bus away. He navigated the vehicle to Jagadamba junction, covering a distance of over 500 meters. During this reckless drive, Kiran dashed into a parked car along the way, adding to the chaos and potential danger.
Passengers in Panic, Police Swiftly Respond
Passengers onboard the bus were thrown into a state of panic as the unauthorized driver took control. However, they heaved a sigh of relief when police officers rushed to the scene promptly. The authorities managed to arrest Kiran at the spot, preventing further escalation of the situation.
Investigation Reveals Background Details
Subsequent investigation has shed light on Kiran's background. It was revealed that he previously worked as an auto mechanic in Vijayawada and possessed knowledge of driving heavy vehicles, which likely facilitated his ability to operate the bus. This incident raises concerns about public safety and the need for heightened vigilance in such scenarios.
The swift police action ensured no serious injuries occurred, but the event has sparked discussions on mental health awareness and security measures in public transport systems.
