Thiruvananthapuram: The Vattiyoorkavu police have arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly attacking a youth during a music festival at a temple in Vellakadavu. The accused has been identified as Santhosh Kumar, also known as Poomani Santhosh, a resident of Vazhottukonam, Puthenveedu.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 22. The accused allegedly assaulted the complainant, who was attending the festival, by trampling him and striking his head with an iron rod. He also attacked another youth who intervened to help the victim.
Police investigations revealed that the accused has a history of violent behavior and is involved in at least three assault cases registered at the Vattiyoorkavu and Vanchiyoor police stations. Authorities are currently making efforts to trace the remaining accused individuals involved in the incident.
The accused was produced before a court and subsequently remanded in judicial custody. The police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward. This arrest brings some relief to the local community, which was shaken by the brutal attack during a festive event.
