Ludhiana Labourer Ends Life After Wife Moves In With Another Man

A tragic incident has unfolded in Ludhiana where a 32-year-old labourer ended his life after discovering his estranged wife had begun living with another man. The deceased, identified as Sarwan Singh, was found hanging at his residence in the Basant Nagar area of Daba.

Years of Marital Discord Culminate in Tragedy

Sarwan Singh had been married to Sukhwinder Kaur for several years, and the couple shared two children together. According to police reports, their relationship was marked by persistent tension and frequent domestic disputes that created an unstable home environment.

Investigating officer ASI Resham Singh from the Daba police station revealed that Sukhwinder had developed a pattern of leaving the marital home following arguments, typically returning to her parental residence. While she had always returned in previous instances, the most recent departure proved different and ultimately fatal.

The Fatal Discovery and Extreme Step

The situation escalated dramatically when Sarwan learned that following their latest argument a few days earlier, his wife had not returned to her parents' home but was instead residing with her paramour, Jasvir Singh, at his residence. This discovery proved devastating for the already distressed labourer.

Overwhelmed by this revelation, Sarwan took the extreme step of hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house. The tragic act left behind two children who now face the loss of their father under heartbreaking circumstances.

Police Register Case Against Wife and Paramour

Acting on a formal complaint filed by the deceased's brother, Rajwinder Singh, the Daba police have registered a case against Sukhwinder Kaur and Jasvir Singh. The First Information Report has been lodged under specific sections of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The charges include:

  • Section 108: Abetment to suicide
  • Section 3(5): Criminal act by several persons in furtherance of common intention

ASI Resham Singh confirmed that while the case has been officially recorded, both accused individuals remain at large as police teams conduct intensive raids to apprehend them. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the complete sequence of events leading to this tragic outcome.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the severe emotional toll that domestic discord and relationship breakdowns can exact on individuals, particularly when compounded by feelings of betrayal and abandonment. The community in Daba remains shaken by the loss of Sarwan Singh, whose extreme action has left behind grieving family members and unanswered questions about what might have prevented this tragedy.
