Ludhiana Harassment Case: Father Brutally Attacked While Protecting Daughter from Stalkers
In a disturbing incident in Haibowal, Ludhiana, a group of men harassing a young woman turned violent and assaulted her father when he stepped in to protect her. The event has sparked outrage and led to a formal police case against six accused individuals.

The father reported to the police that the accused, who reside in the same neighbourhood, had been persistently stalking his daughter. Their behaviour included frequently surrounding her as she commuted to college and making obscene gestures, creating a climate of fear and intimidation.
On March 21, the situation escalated when the father was accompanying his daughter. The accused once again harassed her, prompting the father to object. In response, the group launched a physical assault on him and other family members, causing injuries and distress.
Legal Action and Police Response
Following the attack, the family immediately approached the Haibowal police station and lodged a formal complaint. A case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), reflecting the severity of the offences:
- Section 74: Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty
- Section 115(2): Voluntarily causing hurt
- Section 126(2): Wrongful restraint
- Section 351(2): Criminal intimidation
- Section 191(3): Rioting
- Section 190: Unlawful assembly
Sub-inspector Krishan from the Haibowal police station confirmed that the accused have not yet been arrested. He stated that raids are currently underway to apprehend them, and further action will be taken based on the ongoing investigation. The police are treating this as a high-priority case due to its violent nature and the involvement of multiple perpetrators.
