In a landmark achievement for law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow Police has secured a record number of convictions in serious criminal cases, marking a significant shift towards ensuring justice. The month of November 2025 saw the police achieve 106 convictions across 70 serious cases primarily involving crimes against women and children. This is the highest monthly conviction tally since the commissionerate system was established in the city.
A Strategic Push for Justice: Operation Conviction
This remarkable feat was accomplished under Operation Conviction–Nov 2025, a focused campaign implemented on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and under the guidance of DGP Rajeev Krishna. The operation was spearheaded by Lucknow Police Commissioner Amrendra Sengar, with day-to-day operational supervision handled by DCP Crime Kamlesh Dixit and ACP Crime (Women & Safety) Saumya Pandey.
The spectrum of cases where convictions were secured was vast and severe, demonstrating the operation's wide net. It included:
- Rape and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) offences
- Murder and attempted murder
- Domestic violence and dowry-related assault
- Gangster activities
- Corruption and economic crimes
From Arrests to Assured Convictions: A Qualitative Shift
DCP Kamlesh Dixit emphasized that this campaign represents a clear evolution in policing philosophy. "Courts sentenced the guilty to punishments ranging from 3 years to rigorous life imprisonment. In many cases, courts also imposed substantial financial penalties," he stated. He highlighted that the focus has moved beyond mere arrests to building foolproof cases that guarantee convictions, marking a qualitative improvement in Uttar Pradesh's criminal justice enforcement.
Police Commissioner Amrendra Sengar attributed the success to modernized investigative techniques. "Operation Conviction shows that our investigations are now sharper, evidence collection is more scientific, and prosecution has become stronger," Sengar said. He reiterated the force's commitment, adding, "For women's safety especially, we follow a zero-tolerance policy. Every victim must receive fast and strict justice."
The Key to Success: Relentless Follow-Up and Coordination
ACP Saumya Pandey, who supervised a significant portion of the women and POCSO-related cases, revealed that consistent and meticulous follow-up was the cornerstone of their success. "Many of these cases were complex and time-consuming. What made the difference was our consistent pursuit—right from charge-sheeting to ensuring every witness appeared in court on time," Pandey explained.
She further noted that close coordination with the prosecution branch was instrumental in strengthening case files, which directly translated into the high conviction rate. This effective model of investigation and legal pursuit is now being institutionalized as a standard operating procedure within the Lucknow Police force.
The record-breaking performance of Operation Conviction in November 2025 stands as a testament to a more robust and victim-centric approach to law and order in Uttar Pradesh's capital, setting a new benchmark for police effectiveness in the state.
