Violent Chopper Attack in Kolkata's Beniapukur Leaves Three Injured
A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Kolkata's Beniapukur neighborhood on Monday night, resulting in three local residents being brutally attacked with a chopper. The confrontation reportedly erupted when the victims objected to the vandalism of parked vehicles in the area.
Details of the Violent Confrontation
According to police reports, the incident began when Tamim Ahmed, a 43-year-old shopkeeper, and Jamil Ahmed, a 27-year-old local resident, witnessed accused Md Aslam (also known as Nadeem) damaging parked two-wheelers in the area. When the two men attempted to intervene and stop the vandalism, Nadeem allegedly turned violent and targeted them.
The situation escalated dramatically when Nadeem reportedly ran back to his residence and returned armed with a chopper. He then launched a violent assault on the two men who had confronted him about the vehicle damage.
Severe Injuries and Multiple Victims
One of the victims, Tamim Ahmed, sustained particularly severe injuries during the attack. "I was hit with a knife six times," Ahmed recounted of the traumatic experience. His injuries were so extensive that he required a staggering 86 stitches for treatment.
Another victim, Md Gulam Sarwar, also sustained cut injuries to his hand while attempting to protect Tamim and Jamil from Nadeem's violent assault. The violence didn't stop there - when Jamil's mother tried to intervene and stop the attack, Nadeem reportedly threatened her as well, adding to the terror of the situation.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Kolkata Police have identified the primary accused as Md Aslam, alias Nadeem, and have registered a formal case under Section 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Interestingly, police noted that Nadeem also sustained some self-inflicted injuries during the violent episode.
Authorities are currently investigating the mental condition of the accused as part of their comprehensive inquiry into the incident. The police response included securing the area, documenting evidence, and initiating legal proceedings against the perpetrator.
