KKRTC Driver Hospitalized After Violent Assault in Bidar District

A shocking incident of road rage unfolded in Bidar district on Wednesday morning, resulting in the brutal assault of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) bus driver. The attack occurred near Beeri Tanda, close to Bhalki, highlighting escalating tensions on rural roads.

Violent Confrontation Over Right of Way

The bus driver, identified as Chandrashekhar, was assaulted by a youth later named as Vishal, a resident of Beeri Tanda. According to reports, Vishal was riding his motorcycle and alleged that the KKRTC bus driver failed to give him way to proceed forward. This minor traffic dispute quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Witnesses stated that Vishal, angered by the perceived lack of courtesy, initially confronted the driver while the bus was in motion. When his demands were not met, he reportedly called villagers from the nearby area to intercept the vehicle. The bus was forcibly stopped at Beeri Tanda on the outskirts of Bhalki town.

Passengers Intervene as Assault Intensifies

Upon stopping the bus, Vishal boarded the vehicle and began violently thrashing the driver in front of numerous passengers. The passengers attempted to intervene and stop the assault, but their efforts proved futile as the youth continued his attack. The situation forced all passengers to disembark from the bus for their safety.

Even after exiting the bus, the assailant resumed his violent behavior, further beating the driver. The sustained assault left Chandrashekhar in a worsened condition, with his uniform torn during the altercation. The driver subsequently filed a formal complaint against Vishal at the Bhalki Rural police station, seeking justice for the unprovoked attack.

Official Response and Medical Treatment

KKRTC Bidar divisional controller Rajendra Jadhav confirmed the incident to media sources, providing crucial updates on the driver's condition. Chandrashekhar was promptly admitted to Gurunanak Hospital in Bidar for medical treatment. Officials assured that the driver is now in stable condition and receiving appropriate care following the traumatic event.

This incident raises serious concerns about passenger and driver safety on public transport routes. Local authorities are investigating the matter thoroughly, with the police complaint expected to lead to legal action against the perpetrator. The KKRTC administration has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the security of its employees while serving the public.
