K Preetha Takes Oath as Additional Judge of Kerala HC

Kochi: A K Preetha was sworn in as an additional judge of the Kerala High Court on Monday. Chief Justice Soumen Sen administered the oath of office to her at a ceremony held in the high court.

Advocate General K Gopalakrishna Kurup, Assistant Solicitor General K Sreekumar, and Kerala High Court Advocates' Association President Peeyus A Kottam delivered addresses on the occasion.

The President of India, on Friday, issued the warrant appointing Preetha as an additional judge of the Kerala High Court for a term of two years from the date she assumes office. This followed a recommendation by the Supreme Court collegium in line with an endorsement made by the high court collegium a year earlier.

Preetha, a native of Peermade and the daughter of late Advocate B R Aravindan Nair and Krishnamma, obtained her law degree from Kerala Law Academy, Thiruvananthapuram, and enrolled as an advocate in 1997. Her husband, S S Giri Sankar, is the principal of St Dominic's College of Law, Kanjirappally, in Kottayam.
