Jaipur Police Busts Job Scam Gang, Recovers ₹1 Lakh

In a significant crackdown, the Jaipur City Police have successfully dismantled a criminal gang that was allegedly involved in luring victims with fake job promises and then robbing them. The police have arrested six individuals and recovered the entire looted amount of Rs 1 lakh along with the victim's mobile phone.

How the Elaborate Job Scam Was Executed

According to officials, the victim, Parmesh, had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Brahmpuri police station on January 1. In his complaint, he stated that around a month prior, he had contacted the main accused, Uday Mehra (21), in search of employment. Mehra assured him of arranging a job in Jaipur and called him to the city.

The trap was sprung on Tuesday around 8 pm. Mehra took the victim to Jal Mahal ki Paal under the pretext of finalising the job. Unbeknownst to Parmesh, other members of the gang were already lying in wait at the isolated spot. The group then allegedly dragged him into a nearby forested area, assaulted him, and issued serious threats.

Operating under intense fear, the victim was forced to call his father and arrange for a transfer of Rs 1 lakh into his own bank account. The accused then used the victim's mobile phone to withdraw the entire sum via UPI. Before fleeing, they also snatched his handset.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests

SHO Brahmpuri Rajesh Gautam stated that a special police team was formed immediately after the FIR was registered. The investigation leveraged a combination of technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, and inputs from local informers. This multi-pronged approach enabled the police to track the movements of the suspects swiftly.

All six accused were subsequently arrested. They were identified as Uday Mehra (21), Anand Nagar (19), Vansh Bhatnagar (20), Tanishq (20), Sameer Saxena alias Chinu Saxena (21), and Karan Singh Sonlaki (25). After their arrest, the accused were taken out in a procession in the Brahmpuri police station area before being produced in court.

Gang Targeted Unemployed Youths: Police Investigation

DCP (North) Karan Sharma revealed that preliminary investigations indicate the gang had a specific modus operandi. They primarily targeted unemployed youths by promising them lucrative job opportunities. Once the victim arrived at a pre-decided isolated location, they would be robbed.

Police have recovered the entire stolen cash and the mobile phone. Authorities are now conducting further interrogation to ascertain the gang's involvement in other similar crimes across the region. This case serves as a stark warning about the dangers of online job scams and the importance of verifying employment offers through official channels.
