Indore man kills wife, injures daughter in domestic dispute

A horrific incident of domestic violence turned fatal in Indore on Saturday, leaving a woman dead and her teenage daughter injured. The tragedy unfolded in the Lasudia police station area, where a man allegedly stabbed his wife following a quarrel and then attacked their daughter when she tried to intervene.

Surrender and Confession at Police Station

According to police officials, the accused, identified as Sanjay Chauhan, later walked into the Lasudia police station and confessed to killing his wife. Following his confession, police teams rushed to the scene—a makeshift settlement near Scheme No. 78 where the couple lived.

There, they discovered the body of 36-year-old Suman Chauhan with multiple stab injuries. Her 14-year-old daughter, who had suffered knife wounds while attempting to save her mother, was immediately rushed to Bombay Hospital for treatment. Doctors have reported that the girl's condition is now stable.

History of Suspicion and Marital Discord

Senior police officials revealed that the couple's marriage had been troubled for a long time. Additional DCP Amrendra Singh stated that Sanjay Chauhan was suspicious of his wife's character, and frequent arguments over this issue were a common occurrence.

The situation escalated on Saturday morning when a fresh quarrel broke out. During this altercation, Sanjay allegedly attacked Suman with a knife, killing her on the spot. When their daughter tried to step in to protect her mother, he reportedly turned the weapon on her as well.

Investigators noted that there had been earlier complaints regarding their disputes, which had led to preventive action against Sanjay. However, the disagreements persisted. It was also found that both Sanjay and Suman had been married previously. Sanjay's first wife had died earlier, and this was Suman's second marriage.

Aftermath and Investigation

The body of Suman Chauhan was sent to MY Hospital for a postmortem examination. The accused, Sanjay Chauhan, who works as a labourer, has been formally arrested. Police are currently questioning him to establish the exact sequence of events and the specific circumstances that led to the brutal attack.

This tragic case in Indore has once again highlighted the severe consequences of unresolved domestic disputes and the extreme violence that can erupt within households. The police investigation is ongoing.
