According to eyewitness accounts, a group of eight to nine men surrounded Dhirap Singh, the victim, and forcibly dragged him into a white car before speeding away. The incident occurred while Dhirap was at the hospital to check on his friend, Jitendra Singh, who was undergoing treatment following an assault.
