Indore Grocery Worker Faces Charges for Rape and Financial Fraud
In a disturbing case from Indore, a grocery shop worker has been formally booked by the police for allegedly raping a woman under the false promise of marriage and cheating her out of Rs 1.50 lakh. The complaint was registered on Friday after the victim courageously approached the authorities, detailing a pattern of sexual exploitation and financial deceit.

According to police reports, the accused, a resident of Shiv Shakti Nagar, worked as a porter at the same grocery shop where the woman had been employed for the past four years. Over time, their professional acquaintance blossomed into a friendship, with regular phone conversations strengthening their bond.
The situation took a sinister turn on November 3, 2024. The man invited the woman to his home, ostensibly to introduce her to his mother and discuss marriage plans. However, upon arrival, the house was empty. When the woman questioned this, the accused asked her to wait briefly, claiming his mother would arrive soon. Seizing the opportunity, he allegedly forced himself on her against her will, subsequently promising marriage to placate her.
Pattern of Deception and Financial Exploitation
Police investigations reveal that the accused continued to maintain physical relations with the woman, repeatedly assuring her of an impending wedding. Whenever she pressed for marriage, he allegedly cited significant debts, claiming he needed Rs 1.50 lakh to clear them before they could proceed.
Trusting his assurances, the woman secured a loan and handed over the entire amount to him. Despite receiving the money, the accused neither repaid the loan nor honored his marriage promise, leaving the woman feeling betrayed and exploited.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
After realizing the extent of the deception, the woman confided in her family members and subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the MIG police station. Station in-charge CB Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law.
