Firearm Recovery Leads to Arrest in Village Fattivindi

During a police patrol near village Fattivindi, authorities received a tip from a local resident about a suspicious individual at a bus stand. Acting swiftly on the information, the police apprehended the suspect, identified as Dharam Singh, also known as Dharma, a resident of Femiwala village in Ferozepur district. A search of his belongings revealed a 7.65 mm country-made pistol, leading to his immediate arrest. A case has been registered against him under relevant legal provisions, with further investigation underway to uncover any potential links to broader criminal networks.

Narcotics Bust on Sheetla Mandir Road in Phagwara

In a separate incident, a police patrol team on Sheetla Mandir Road in Phagwara noticed a young man behaving nervously upon spotting the officers. The suspect, later identified as Aksar alias Akshay from Pehchan Nagar, attempted to flee after discarding a black polythene packet. Police chased and apprehended him, recovering the packet which contained 75 strips of Addnok-N 2/0.5 mg tablets, totaling 750 intoxicant pills. During the subsequent investigation, two additional accused, Jatinder alias Kalu from Chajj Colony and Vishal from Prempura locality, both in Phagwara, were implicated in the case. All individuals have been arrested, and authorities are delving deeper into the narcotics supply chain.

Prohibited Items Seized in Central Jail Kapurthala

Adding to the crackdown, two cases were registered based on complaints from officials at Central Jail Kapurthala. In the first instance, during a routine check, undertrial prisoner Varinder Kumar alias Mola from Jalandhar was found with two white earphones and a blue OPPO touch mobile phone with a Jio SIM card hidden in his clothing. As such devices are strictly prohibited within jail premises, the items were seized, and a case was filed under the Prisons Act.

In another case, undertrial prisoner Jagjit Kumar alias Gona from Bania Mohalla in Phillaur was searched at the jail gate after returning from a court appearance. Under security supervision, officials discovered 31 unmarked white intoxicant tablets concealed in a cloth tied around his head. The tablets were confiscated, and a case has been registered under the NDPS Act and Prisons Act, emphasizing the zero-tolerance policy against contraband in correctional facilities.
