Hyderabad Court Rejects Bail for Nepal Nationals in High-Value Jewelry Robbery Case

A local court in Hyderabad has recently denied bail to two Nepal nationals accused of involvement in a major jewelry robbery at Nandagiri Hills in Jubilee Hills. This decision comes approximately a month after the alleged crime, where gold and diamond jewelry worth 1.30 crore rupees were stolen from a residential locker.

Details of the Alleged Robbery and Arrests

The incident occurred on February 5, when a resident of Nandagiri Hills returned home to discover that two accused individuals, identified as Ramesh Bahadur Chand and another accomplice, had assaulted household staff, including the watchman, after administering sedatives. With the assistance of a recently employed Nepali national, Jiban Chand, the perpetrators fled the scene after looting the valuable jewelry from a secure locker.

Following the offence, police investigations led to the arrests of two Nepal nationals: Madan Khatri and Bohara Susil. Madan is accused of facilitating employment for compatriots by connecting them with individuals seeking help, while Bohara is alleged to have harbored one of the prime accused, Ramesh, after the robbery.

Court Proceedings and Bail Rejection

During court arguments, police highlighted that since both Madan and Bohara are foreign nationals, there is a significant risk they might escape to Nepal to avoid trial. The court considered these submissions along with the arguments presented by the accused before rejecting their bail application a week ago.

Police stated, "Following the offence, Bohara received a call from Ramesh, who participated in the robbery. On the night, Bohara went to Lakdikapul, where he picked up Ramesh and brought him to his residence at Nizampet, where he was harboured."

Ongoing Investigation and Fugitives

Madan has been charged with conspiracy in both executing the robbery and planning the subsequent escape. Meanwhile, the prime accused, Jiban Chand and Bimla, remain at large and are believed to have crossed into Nepal after the crime, taking a portion of the stolen property with them.

Authorities are considering taking both Madan and Bohara into custody for further investigation to uncover more details about the robbery network and recover the remaining stolen items.
