In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Panchkula police have successfully foiled a sophisticated honey trap extortion attempt, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including a married couple. The accused allegedly conspired to blackmail a victim from Kaithal, Haryana, demanding a staggering sum of Rs 50 lakh under threat of releasing compromising footage.
Details of the Arrest and Accused Identities
The suspects have been identified as Sana Amreen, her husband Dilpreet Singh, and their associate Manmohan Singh, all residents of Fatehgarh district in Punjab. A formal case was registered at the Chandimandir police station on March 20, 2026, following a detailed complaint filed by the victim, who is a resident of Kaithal. The police acted with remarkable swiftness, apprehending the trio from the Sirhind and Zirakpur areas on the very same day the complaint was lodged.
Modus Operandi of the Extortion Scheme
According to police investigations, Sana Amreen, who was previously acquainted with the complainant, lured him to Panchkula under false pretenses. She then escorted him to a hotel located in Morni, where, during a consensual meeting, she secretly recorded an objectionable video using a concealed camera. Subsequently, she transmitted the video to the victim via WhatsApp and issued a direct threat, demanding Rs 50 lakh and warning that the footage would be made public if the payment was not made promptly.
Evidence Recovered and Legal Proceedings
During the police remand period, authorities recovered crucial evidence linked to the crime, including the vehicle used in the operation, the hidden camera device, multiple mobile phones, and various SIM cards. The suspects are currently in judicial custody as the investigation continues to unfold. The Panchkula police have emphasized that further inquiries are ongoing to determine if there are additional victims or accomplices involved in this organized blackmail and extortion racket.
