The action unfolded near Medhkuri Khud, within the jurisdiction of Daru police station, marking a decisive blow against illegal drug activities in the region.

Tip-Off Leads to Coordinated Police Action

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prashant Kumar, the raid was initiated after Hazaribag Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan received credible intelligence. The tip-off indicated that a group of people had gathered near Babal Dham at Medhkuri Khud, where they were allegedly consuming and trading illicit narcotic substances. Acting swiftly on this information, authorities mobilized a specialized raiding team to address the situation.

Elaborate Police Team Assembled for the Operation

The operation was meticulously planned and executed under the leadership of Vishnugarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vaidyanath Prasad. The team comprised key personnel including Hazaribag Headquarters DSP Prashant Kumar, Daru Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kapil Dev Singh, and several other dedicated police officers. Their coordinated efforts were crucial in ensuring the success of the raid.

Chaotic Scene as Suspects Attempt to Flee

Upon reaching the designated spot, the police team encountered a chaotic scene as several individuals attempted to flee immediately upon spotting the police vehicle. Despite the sudden commotion and attempts to escape, the officers managed to chase down and apprehend three suspects after a brief pursuit. The arrested individuals were identified as Chandan Kumar Mehta, also known as Jogan Mehta, Shan Kumar Raj alias Chiku, and Manoj Kumar.

Significant Seizure of Contraband and Evidence

During a thorough search of the suspects and the surrounding area, police recovered approximately 3.43 grams of brown sugar, a highly addictive and illegal narcotic. Additionally, authorities seized Rs 1,900 in cash, a digital weighing machine, and various other items including cigarette packs and currency notes. These materials are believed to have been used in the facilitation of the drug trade, providing critical evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Legal Proceedings and Continued Investigation

DSP Prashant Kumar confirmed that a formal case has been registered at Daru police station under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. This legislation is designed to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking, with stringent penalties for offenders. The police have emphasized that further investigation is actively underway to uncover additional details and potentially identify other individuals involved in the narcotics network.

The successful raid underscores the Hazaribag police's commitment to curbing drug-related crimes and maintaining law and order in the district. Such operations are part of broader efforts to disrupt the supply chain of illegal substances and protect communities from the detrimental effects of drug abuse.
