In 2023, the accused allegedly extorted Rs 3 lakh from the complainant as part of what was described as a "settlement." However, the demands did not cease. In March of this year, the accused escalated their threats, demanding a fresh sum of Rs 15 lakh. They warned that failure to pay would result in the circulation of the explicit videos among the victim's family members and acquaintances, causing severe emotional and social harm.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police formed a dedicated team to investigate the matter. After receiving credible information that the accused would arrive at Devi Lal Park to collect the demanded money, they set up a trap.
