Gurgaon Authorities Launch Major Crackdown on Illegal Constructions

In a significant enforcement action, the town and country planning department of Gurgaon, supported by police personnel, carried out a major drive on February 25th targeting illegal constructions and unauthorized colonies. The operation resulted in the sealing of multiple illegal structures and the demolition of three unauthorized colonies in the Pataudi subdivision.

Targeted Action Against Specific Violations

Officials stated that the enforcement drive specifically targeted violations that had been flagged through formal complaints and unauthorized plotting activities in peripheral urban areas. The action demonstrates the authorities' commitment to addressing urban planning violations systematically.

Sealing of Illegal Commercial Spaces

As part of the comprehensive drive, authorities sealed an illegal floor at Enkay Town Plaza in Palam Vihar. This action followed a complaint received through the Chief Minister's Window grievance portal, highlighting the effectiveness of public feedback mechanisms in identifying violations.

In a separate but related action, officials also sealed an unauthorized office operating from the club premises of Brisk Lumbini, a group housing society located in Sector 109. The premises were being utilized in clear violation of approved land use norms, according to official statements.

Demolition of Unauthorized Colonies

The enforcement drive extended to three unauthorized colonies in the Pataudi subdivision, where significant demolition work was carried out:

  • Narhera Colony: A 4-acre unauthorized colony saw the removal of 15 plot demarcations and internal earthen roads that had been illegally established.
  • Pataudi Village: Authorities cleared a 2.5-acre illegal layout, demolishing five boundary walls and unauthorized road networks that had been constructed without approval.
  • Jatoli Village: An unauthorized colony spread across approximately four acres was targeted, with officials removing five plot demarcations and foundations, demolishing one under-construction structure, and partially demolishing two houses that violated regulations.

Official Statements and Future Enforcement

"Due procedure was followed and police were present to maintain law and order throughout the operations," stated an official involved in the enforcement drive. The official further emphasized that this action represents part of ongoing efforts against illegal construction, unauthorized colonies, and misuse of premises throughout Gurgaon and surrounding areas.

Enforcement teams have committed to continuing their vigilance, promising to act on complaints and conduct regular field operations to monitor violations of building and land use norms across the entire district. This systematic approach aims to ensure sustainable urban development and compliance with established regulations.

The crackdown highlights the growing challenges of urban expansion in rapidly developing areas like Gurgaon, where unauthorized construction and colony development have become persistent issues requiring coordinated enforcement action from multiple government departments.
