In a chilling account of the recent lone wolf attack in Mumbai, a survivor has narrated the horrifying moment when the assailant asked if he was Hindu before plunging a knife into his back. The incident, which took place on Monday evening, has sent shockwaves through the city.
Survivor's Harrowing Account
The survivor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, recounted the sequence of events. 'He asked if I was Hindu, then pierced a knife into my back,' he said. The victim, who was returning home from work, was suddenly confronted by the attacker. 'I got frightened and ran away, hiding behind the building. After about five to seven minutes, when there was no movement, I called Mishra (his supervisor and another survivor). He was crying and saying, ‘I will die',' the survivor added.
Investigation Underway
The Mumbai Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken over the investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that the attacker acted alone, making it a 'lone wolf' incident. The police are scanning CCTV footage and have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The motive behind the attack is being probed, with religious profiling being a key angle.
The attack has raised concerns about the safety of citizens in the city. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The survivor is currently receiving medical treatment and is said to be in stable condition. The other survivor, Mishra, is also recovering in hospital.
This incident has highlighted the need for increased security measures in public spaces. The ATS is working closely with local police to ensure that the perpetrator is apprehended at the earliest.
