The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given the green light for the construction of a new flyover at Ichak on the busy Barhi-Hazaribag stretch of National Highway 33 (NH-33). This project, which also includes the development of slip roads on the Hazaribag bypass, is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and cut down travel time for commuters.
Project Details and Cost
Estimated at a cost of Rs 53.83 crore, the NHAI has set a strict deadline of 18 months for the implementing agency to complete the work. The initiative aims to streamline the heavy traffic flow on the crucial Ranchi-Patna route, which currently faces severe congestion, particularly between Ichak and Barhi. This stretch is notorious for bottlenecks and a high frequency of road accidents.
Expected Benefits
By introducing the flyover and dedicated service lanes, the NHAI intends to eliminate these black spots and ensure a seamless transit experience for all commuters. NHAI officials have emphasized that there will be no compromise on quality standards during the execution phase. Beyond easing traffic, the project is poised to act as a catalyst for industrial and social growth by accelerating economic activities in the surrounding regions.
The flyover is expected to provide a new dimension to regional connectivity and significantly reduce travel time. With improved infrastructure, the area is likely to see increased investment and development, benefiting local communities and businesses alike.
