Verna Police File FIR Against Four for Assault, Outraging Woman's Modesty
Goa: Four booked for assault, threatening woman in Sancoale

In a serious incident of public assault and intimidation, the Verna police in Goa have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals for allegedly threatening, abusing, and assaulting a woman and her family members. The complaint details a harrowing sequence of events involving physical violence and the use of a weapon.

Chronology of the Alleged Assault

The incident unfolded on December 29 at approximately 6:45 PM in Upasnagar, Sancoale. According to the police complaint, the altercation began when the prime accused, Toffick Shaik, a resident of Upasnagar, wrongfully restrained the complainant, her husband, and her sister-in-law.

The woman alleged that Toffick began verbally abusing them using extremely filthy language. The situation escalated physically when he pushed her husband. He then reportedly called his friends—Adnan Shaikh from Verna, and Upasnagar residents Iqran Jagirdar and Meezan Sayed—to the spot.

Escalation to Physical Violence and Molestation

Upon their arrival, the violence intensified. Adnan Shaikh allegedly pushed the complainant's husband. When the woman intervened to protect her spouse, Adnan touched her chest with the intent to outrage her modesty, as per the FIR.

The assault did not stop there. The complaint states that Toffick, Iqran, and Meezan then turned on the woman's sister-in-law. They pushed her to the ground and assaulted her with sandals and fists, causing her further physical and mental trauma.

Weapon Brandished in Criminal Intimidation

The terrifying episode reached a peak when Toffick Shaik, in a blatant act of criminal intimidation, took a knife from his scooter's dickey (storage compartment) and threatened to kill the woman and her family members. Having instilled extreme fear, all four accused then fled the scene on their scooters.

The Verna police, acting on the woman's formal complaint, have registered the FIR against the four accused for their involvement in multiple criminal acts. The charges are expected to include wrongful restraint, assault, criminal intimidation, using criminal force with intent to outrage a woman's modesty, and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. PSI Pramil Fernandes is actively investigating the case to apprehend the accused and gather further evidence.
