Ghaziabad Police Rescue 2-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped 15 Days Ago, Arrest Woman
In a significant breakthrough, Ghaziabad police successfully rescued a 2-year-old girl who had been missing from her home for 15 days and arrested a 45-year-old woman for kidnapping her. The accused, identified as Haseena, a resident of Modinagar, allegedly intended to force the child into begging to support her own livelihood.
Details of the Kidnapping Incident
According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 10 when the child's mother, Jyoti, left her two daughters—an 8-year-old and the 2-year-old—at home while she went out to beg for a living. Jyoti resides in a rented house near Radhe Dairy in Muradnagar and has five children. Upon returning, she discovered her younger daughter was missing.
"I searched on my own in nearby slums and went as far as Ghaziabad but could not find her. Then on March 18, I went to Muradnagar police station to lodge a missing complaint," Jyoti stated, highlighting the desperate search efforts before involving authorities.
Police Investigation and Rescue Operation
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Lipi Nagayach of Masuri revealed that specialized teams were immediately formed to investigate the case. The investigation involved meticulous scrutiny of over 100 CCTV cameras in the area, which ultimately led to identifying Haseena with the child.
"During interrogation, the accused stated she lives in the Jagatpuri Balmiki Basti jhuggi jhopdi in Modinagar and works as a ragpicker. Her husband passed away and her two children live with her sister. After kidnapping the child, she boarded a bus and went to Meerut. Today, she was looking for an opportunity to flee to Lucknow when the police caught her," ACP Nagayach explained, detailing the accused's background and movements.
Motivation and Method of the Kidnapping
Police investigations uncovered that Haseena lured the child by promising to buy her a bottle of cold drink, a simple yet effective tactic to abduct the toddler. Her primary motive was to exploit the child for begging purposes, aiming to generate income through this illicit means.
The rescue operation culminated with the police apprehending Haseena before she could escape to Lucknow, ensuring the safe return of the child to her family. This case underscores the critical role of surveillance technology and prompt police action in addressing child abduction incidents.
