Tragic Wrong-Side Driving Claims Four Lives in Porbandar Motorcycle Collision
A catastrophic head-on collision between two motorcycles near Porbandar Airport on Monday resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two teenagers, with one more person sustaining serious injuries. According to preliminary investigations by the Udhyog Nagar police station, the collision occurred when one rider, operating a Bullet motorcycle, was driving on the wrong side of the road. Both motorcycles were reportedly traveling at high speeds, leading to an impact of such severity that three victims died instantly at the scene.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Milan Badarshahi, aged 26, a resident of the Bokhira housing scheme.
- Dipesh Dhakecha, aged 18, from the Modi Plot area.
- Vanraj Zala, aged 17, also from Modi Plot.
- Piyush Lodhari, aged 28, who succumbed to injuries during transfer for advanced medical care.
The sole survivor, Pratik Jethwa, is currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. All individuals involved were members of the Valmiki community, returning to Porbandar from a religious event in Ranavav when the tragedy struck.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Emergency services, including teams from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), swiftly responded to the accident site. Initially, Lodhari and Jethwa were transported to Bhavsinhji Hospital in Porbandar. However, Lodhari's condition necessitated transfer to Jamnagar for specialized treatment, where he tragically passed away.
The Udhyog Nagar police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are examining factors such as road conditions, vehicle speeds, and adherence to traffic regulations to determine the exact cause.
