Bengaluru: At least four individuals, including two women, have been arrested for allegedly operating a prostitution racket from rented accommodations in various parts of the city, police confirmed on Monday. The Central Crime Branch's Women Protection Unit also rescued four women who were reportedly forced into the illegal trade.
Raids Conducted Based on Tip-offs
According to a statement from the office of Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, the Women Protection Unit received specific intelligence on different dates regarding prostitution activities being carried out from rented houses in Padmanabhanagar, RK Layout, Sundarnagar, and NGF Layout. Acting on these inputs, law enforcement officials conducted coordinated raids at these locations on separate occasions.
During the operations, four women who were allegedly coerced into prostitution were rescued. In connection with the case, a total of four suspects were taken into custody, among them two women accused of forcing others into the illicit activity.
Modus Operandi Revealed
During interrogation, the accused reportedly disclosed that they would contact men seeking prostitution services via phone calls and arrange meetings at the rented houses. The illegal transactions were conducted for monetary gain at these premises, the police statement added.
Cases have been registered at Subramanyapura, Jalahalli, and Jnanabharathi police stations. A detailed investigation is currently underway, with authorities examining the network involved in the racket.
The swift action by the Bengaluru police underscores their commitment to curbing human trafficking and exploitation in the city. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
