Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Truck Driver and Helper in Hazaribag
A devastating road accident resulted in the immediate deaths of a driver and his helper when their trailer truck plunged into a ditch in the Hazaribag district of Jharkhand. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Danua Bhanua Ghati section of National Highway-2, under the jurisdiction of the Chouparan police station.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to police reports, the driver, identified as Pankaj Kumar, aged 35, and the helper, Satish Kumar, aged 20, were traveling to Bihar after loading iron rods in Bokaro the previous night. The accident took place around 8:30 am as the vehicle was navigating a slope. It lost control and fell approximately 7 feet into a ditch.
The police officer in-charge of Chouparan police station, Saroj Choudhury, stated that both individuals were buried under the debris of the truck. The entire load of iron rods collapsed onto them, leading to their instantaneous deaths at the scene.
Police Response and Aftermath
Following the accident, local authorities swiftly responded to the site. The police managed to extract the bodies from the wreckage and transported them to the Community Health Center (CHC) Hospital in Chouparan. Medical professionals at the hospital officially declared both victims deceased upon arrival.
This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on busy national highways like NH-2, particularly in challenging terrains such as ghat sections.
