The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh launched a major crackdown on Thursday, conducting simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to a government school principal in Sidhi district. The action follows the registration of a significant disproportionate assets case, with alleged illegal wealth running into crores of rupees.
Simultaneous Raids Uncover Lavish Properties
Acting on a verified complaint, teams from the EOW unit in Rewa targeted three residential houses and a farmhouse. These properties are connected to Abhimanyu Kumar Singh Chauhan, alias Bablu Singh (53), who serves as the Principal of Government High School in Khokhra, Sidhi. The complaint alleged that Chauhan had accumulated assets vastly exceeding his legitimate sources of income as a government employee.
Case Registration and Legal Framework
Officials confirmed that the complaint was initially scrutinized at the EOW Headquarters in Bhopal. After a thorough verification process, a formal First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the principal on December 3, 2025. The case has been filed under IPC Section 61(2) and crucial sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Specifically, sections 13(1)(B) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018, have been invoked, highlighting the seriousness of the charges related to amassing wealth disproportionate to known income.
Crore Worth of Assets Seized in Initial Search
Preliminary findings from the investigation point to a vast portfolio of assets valued at several crores. The searches conducted so far have led to the discovery and documentation of a trove of high-value items. The seized assets include:
- A luxurious two-storey house.
- Multiple plots of land at various locations.
- A fleet of ten four-wheeled vehicles.
- Four two-wheelers.
- Substantial quantities of gold and silver jewellery.
- Various other high-value household items and important financial documents.
The scale of the recovered assets has stunned investigators, raising serious questions about the accumulation of such wealth on a government school principal's salary. The EOW is continuing its investigation to trace the source of funds for these properties and determine the full extent of the alleged disproportionate assets.
